Hyper-V release code is out earlier then expected from Microsoft. If you have missed the release you probably have been living in a black hole since it has been reported on pretty much every news technology sites that exist. It will be interesting in the next few months to see how well Hyper-V is adopted in the technology community. It will also be interesting to see if this will put any additional pressure on VMWARE to bring down the purchase price of their products in the next three to six months. During the latest install of 2008 we took the time to capture some screenshots from the install process. As you can see from the screenshots the install process has changed allot from previous versions of windows servers. The majority of the configuration is completed when the initial install process has completed. The snap in for this process is called initial configuration tasks. Some of the tasks you can complete are time zone, configure network, change the name of the server, add it to the domain, and you can start to configure the roles of the server. We will cover the different server roles and features you can configure in upcoming articles.
